I just buried a Saint Joseph statue in the front yard. He's upside-down, facing the house and located near the "for sale/rent" sign. According to people, this will ensure our house sells quickly.
In one of the books I read this summer, the parents were selling the house and buried a St. Joseph in the backyard. It led to quite a few humorous moments in the book and I thought "must remember for when we sell . . . one of these years." If I'd known that in a few short weeks, we would decide to move, I'd have bought and buried that day.
Saint Joseph is the patron saint of family and household needs. Everyone could use his help every now and again, right? I have a fondness for St Joseph because of Sister Patrick Joseph (Sister PJ). Meeting her in college was a wonderful blessing and Sister PJ made my college years as stress-free as she could. She was my adviser all four years and other than the 8 am Accounting class she taught, I could never complain about the way she guided me through the years. Interestingly enough, the Husband's full name includes Patrick and Joseph.
So last night when I was reminded of the tradition of burying a St. Joseph statue by a guy named Joe, I thought I'd better do it. So, he's buried. I've prayed to him to do his job. I'll dig him up when it sells and he'll have a special spot in the new house.
So if prayer is one of the things you do and if you want to give St. Joseph a little nudge for us, by all means please do so! If you want to read more stories about St. Joesph and his career in real estate. I'll keep you posted on the progress!
I'm going to go knit for a bit! Happy Day!
