Have you been turned down by other lenders?

Hi I liked your note, add your site to your bookmarks.

Do you have a viable business but lack the necessary finances to get it off it’s feet?

Congratulations! You have so much useful information, write more.

Are you eager to secure funds for that dream project of yours?

The Fire restriction is because you will be warehousing highly flammable materials in bulk. All textile businesses would fall under the same guidelines.

I work in a sewing factory in Washington State and we have twice yearly fire inspections. You might want to call your local fire department to see if you can get a listing of warehouses that meet the criteria for a three hour fire rating. Then find out if they have space available.

Someone needs to tell the city that people from OUT OF TOWN--NO, OUT OF STATE travel to Alexandria just to come to Knit Happens. Been there, seen it. So we are talking about tax revenue AND toursism dollars!

Phyl, love the new site....

Love the new site! (great KH colours) Boo hiss to the City....

I'm so sorry you have to go through this with the city- mine does the exact same thing (both with the mayor and the council) to small businesses and nonprofits. If you can, talk to someone (a local group that advocates the city a lot, etc) to see if they can help you, or at least predict what the city's reaction will be.

As a former state employee (not VA, unfortunately) who did a LOT of constituent services work, I'd suggest that Kristine contact her city councilperson. It's part of their job to advocate for their constituents, and she/he may be able to smooth the way on this project. Or at least help decipher the code properly!

Congratulations on your new home! Great first post there, too! I just can't believe all the crap KH-Online has gone through thanks to the City of Alexandria! Grrr!

Yay! I can subscribe to "Got Gauge" in my bloglines.

Thanks for the great post about the horror that is the City of Alexandria.
