I love Christmas. I love the lights, music, decorations and the warm, cozy feelings of Christmas. We go to Christmas Mass on Christmas Eve and make sure to take time out to remember the true meaning and spirit of the holiday. I can't stand when Christmas is abbreviated to "XMas". Other than that, I love all things Christmas. Oh and I don't like Candy Canes that don't taste like good, old fashioned candy canes. They are meant to be peppermint people and only peppermint.
Every year the Husband will indulge my love of decorations and drive me around so I can enjoy them without having to worry about driving up on the sidewalk Or perhaps it's because I would stop the car and stare in awe and wonder at some of the displays. And perhaps knock on their door and tell them. I love a Santa on the roof. And those big, bright lights spelling out "Merry Christmas!" on the lawn. LOVE IT!
If I weren't married to a man with a bit of taste (after all, he did choose me, right?) my yard would look like this:
The first year. Until I really got my collection growing. And oh! the roof on this house just screams for lights spelling out "Happy Holidays!" I love all those inflatable yard decorations. And just look at all of them for sale at Lowe's. There is even a John Deere tractor!
Friends have said they will not visit if I do this. Family is concerned that I'll be asked to leave my new neighborhood. So I'll have to settle on enjoying other people's wonderfully tacky and over the top decorations.
On Saturday we went to cut down our Christmas Tree. The couple before us got the 18 footer. Dang! So we settled on something around 10 or 11 feet.
Getting ready to go out in the field.
We had to look at all of them before deciding. We ended up with the first one we liked.
The Husband decorating the door. The swags are fresh, the garland around the outside is re-useable. He surprised me when we went shopping for decorations and I have a list of a few more items to pick up today.
After the doors and a bit of shopping for LED lights, it was time to start decorating the tree.
The supervisors determined we should add the lights from the bottom up, not top down.
So we did and the lights were much easier to put on the tree. (lighted vs. not lighted)
Sophia got a little antsy during the whole putting on of the lights.
It reminded me of waiting for the lights to be put on the tree when I was a kid. Could they hurry up already!!!
Finally! A little peace and relaxation! More pictures of the tree.
I have pictures from under the tree in the camera. I love looking up at the tree. Is that weird? Does anyone else do that?
Happy Holidays!
That's an awful lot of excitement!

Hezekiah hangs out under the tree and pretends to be Queen of her village. Other than her and you? No one. ;)
Sophia does seem a bit impatient. And I can't believe that your friends and family won't let you get a John Deere giant blow up Christmas decoration. What could be more festive?

I had not thought of lying under the tree! I will have to do that. I love looking at decorations too!
